Bexhill to Hastings Link Road

The HOCHTIEF Taylor Woodrow JV is delivering this ECI design and build project as part of ESCC’s plan to regenerate one of the most deprived areas of the south east. Phase 1 involved preliminary design works, development of the programme, substantial environmental mitigation works, assisting ESCC in achieving a successful Public Inquiry and agreement of the Target Cost.

The Bexhill to Hastings Link Road project consists of 5.6 km single carriageway spanning both greenfield and urban environments, linking the A259 Belle Hill junction in Bexhill to B2092 Queensway in Hastings. Construction of numerous structures including:

  • Six over bridges (river and rail crossings), seven under bridges, two underpasses and two box culverts
  • Demolition works
  • Substantial ground improvement
  • Soil nailing
  • Over 1 million m3 of bulk earthworks material
  • Over 400,000t of imported stone
  • 5-year landscape maintenance period
  • Substantial environmental mitigation works
  • Creation of a green corridor for walkers, cyclists and equestrian
  • Creation of new wildlife habitats, and
  • Extensive planting and landscaping.
